Head of Institute for Mechanical Engineering is Prof. Markus Schneider and he teaches his students more than just technical competence - he also teaches social competence.

Innovation through cooperation

Prof. Dr. Markus Schneider has headed the Institute for Mechanical Engineering at Hochschule Ruhr West – University of Applied Sciences (HRW) since September 2009. This institute fulfils two important tasks for the university of applied sciences: applied research and teaching.

The institute’s main focus areas, in teaching and research, are Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Informatics and Production Technology.

Until relocation to HRW’s new campus, the institute is based in the grounds of the Salzgitter Mannesmann pipe works.

Various laboratories ensure application-based teaching. These facilities are also used to pursue research and development topics in both publicly funded and bilateral spheres.

Four professors, two research assistants and one administrative assistant under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Schneider are currently in the process of developing the institute.
