The well-established retail company, which is headquartered in Mülheim an der Ruhr, will provide a total of €500,000 for Ruhr West research in e-commerce. The future incumbent of the endowed chair, aside from his or her teaching and research responsibilities as part of the e-commerce degree programme, will actively help to expand this new field at the university's two campuses at Mülheim an der Ruhr and Bottrop.
Ruhr West President Gudrun Stockmanns said, 'I am happy about this successful collaboration. By focusing on e-commerce, we are in line with current business trends and are moving one step closer towards our goal of being the most modern university in the region and for the region.'
Oliver Koch, Vice President Research and Transfer, added, 'We are very grateful to Tengelmann for endowing this chair in an innovative and cutting-edge field such as e-commerce. After all, Tengelmann is a pioneer in e-commerce, and our students will be able to benefit immensely from direct exchanges and real-world experiences.'
