Water Economics and Water Management
The research focus 'Water Economics and Water Management' is an interdisciplinary topic of the Economics Institute and the Institute for Civil Engineering.
The Subject Area
Water is one of the central themes of our epoch - and will remain so for the foreseeable future. The World Economic Forum identifies water crises as the greatest threat in our globalized world. Additionally, it highlights that many other risks are closely intertwined with water: food crises, persistent impairments to our ecosystems, severe damage due to extreme weather events, and environmental disasters caused by human influences. In a national context, the challenges appear no less significant. The consequences of climate change must be addressed in water management not only economically but also technically and in a socially compatible manner. Working towards a transformation process towards sustainable water management is the guiding principle of the work of the interdisciplinary research focus.
Our Involved Institutes
Two institutes are involved in this research focus: the Institute of Business Administration and the Institute of Civil Engineering.
The coordinators are Prof. Dr. Mark Oelmann (Institute of Business Administration) and Prof. Dr. Markus Quirmbach (Institute of Civil Engineering).
