Institute of Computer Science

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FOR EVERYDAY LIFE

The main responsibility of the Institute of Computer Science is to perform research and offer courses in the field of computer science.

Applied computer science is an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of computer science and other disciplines, especially engineering and the sciences. The Institute has a special research focus on vehicle information technology and cognitive systems engineering.

It is important not to forget, however, that technical systems are developed for humans. This is the key aspect in the Institute’s teaching and research activities in the field of human-machine interactions.

In the field of cognitive systems engineering, the overall goal is to realise intelligent systems in private households and in industrial automation (e.g. for inspections or quality assurance) – systems that interact autonomously with humans and process changes in ambient conditions in targeted ways.
