Welcome to the Summer Semester 2022

at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences and in Bottrop and Mülheim an der Ruhr!

The Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences is preparing intensively for the summer semester 2022 - taking into account the overall positive experiences from the digital summer semester 2020 and 2021 - in order to make studying as efficient and pleasant as possible for both teachers and students. It is our wish and goal to enable students to continue to study well and enjoy good study conditions in the winter semester under the existing challenges, while at the same time fulfilling our responsibility to contain the pandemic.

We would like to welcome you all, first semester and advanced students, to our university and to Bottrop and Mülheim an der Ruhr!

We have compiled the most important information here. (Supplements will follow)

The lecture period starts on 21st March 2022 and ends on 1st  July 2022.

Examinations will take place during the lecture-free period following this date.

The application and registration phase for the coming winter semester is currently underway. You can register online, so you do not have to be on site or travel to Mülheim an der Ruhr or Bottrop. Further information on the digital enrolment process

Information for first semester students

AStA, credits, enrolment, Moodle, Webex? To ensure that you as a new student do not get lost in the academic jungle, the orientation weeks or the coordinated introductory phase (STEP) at the HRW provide important information on university-relevant terms and systems. STEP is the coordinated introductory study phase, which offers a three-week introductory programme for first-year students from 7 March 2022. The programme will be a hybrid event due to Corona, i.e. the individual courses will be partly digital and partly in presence at the HRW.

You can find more information, details and lots of tutorials (videos) on the specially created .

Hybrid semester in detail

Our lecturers are currently preparing the courses for a "hybrid semester": They will offer numerous digital teaching and learning courses.

How smaller courses - such as laboratory courses or practical exercises, seminars or excursions - can be implemented in attendance is being examined and planned.

Studying - as well as social life is influenced by Corona - but just as exciting and rewarding as before. The Hochschule Ruhr West is looking forward to meeting you!
