In the practice-oriented undergraduate programme in electrical engineering at Ruhr West, students start with mathematics and science courses and go on to explore innovative topics such as medical technology, digital media and communications technology, renewable energies, lighting technology, e-mobility, laser and fibre optic technology, robotics or automation. Along the way, they also strengthen their teamwork, project management and problem-solving skills.
Those who want to pursue a personal interest can choose from a wide range of electives and the following four concentrations:
- automation technology (modern manufacturing methods and robotics)
- photonics and environmental measuring technology (measuring environmental data using laser-based and other optical techniques)
- sensor and telecommunications technology (measurement of key parameters and fast data transmission)
- medical technology (equipment for hospitals and doctors’ offices, imaging methods, anatomy)
Electrical engineering graduates enjoy excellent career prospects in research and development at companies, universities and research institutions.
