Mechanical Engineering and Management

More and more companies are looking for young engineers with an interdisciplinary education: specialists who are capable of addressing and assessing problems from both a technical and a business point of view. The programme in mechanical engineering and management combines coursework in science and mechanical engineering with courses in business administration, law and the social sciences.

Students in the undergraduate programme in Mechanical Engineering and Management at Ruhr West acquire knowledge in mathematics and the natural sciences, mechanical engineering and business administration. The curriculum includes courses in engineering mathematics, mechanics and construction but also in marketing, controlling and human resource management. So if you are passionate about technology and bold enough to face the challenges of the business world, if you think in economic categories and like to work analytically, you might be a great candidate for this programme.

Emphasis on theory and practice

Even though a major part of the curriculum is devoted to the theoretical foundations, the programme also has a strong emphasis on practice and application. Students not only attend lectures or seminars – they often go out to visit companies to meet potential employers and projects to get involved in. The instructors share their real-world knowledge about mechanical engineering, product and production management, logistics and packaging technology. In addition to their specialist expertise, they also teach technical English and presentation techniques, giving students a broad, interdisciplinary basis for a rewarding career as mechanical engineers and managers.
