Mechanical Engineering

CREATING THE TECHNOLOGY FOR THE FUTURE

Mechanical engineers research, design, develop, build and distribute mechanical and thermal sensors and devices, including tools, engines and machines. Without them, no newspaper would be printed, no car would run, and no house would be supplied with water and energy. Modern technology in machines, facilities, vehicles and other products: that’s what the programme in Mechanical Engineering is all about.

If you’re interested in machinery, have a basic understanding of technical processes and enjoy exploring mathematical and scientific questions, a degree in mechanical engineering might be just the right option for you. In the undergraduate programme at Ruhr West, you will discover the exciting know-how and technology that drives machines. On the one hand, the curriculum covers the theoretical foundations of engineering with courses in maths and the natural sciences; on the other hand, you will get a hands-on, practice-oriented introduction to the professional world of mechanical engineering.

A hands-on engineering education

Mechanical engineering at Ruhr West is more than lectures and seminars – our students do project work and go out and visit companies on a regular basis to meet potential project partners and employers. Because programme contents are guided by the current needs of industry and involve many practical components, our graduates enjoy excellent career prospects not only as engineers working on developing and building machines but also as technical managers planning and monitoring the manufacturing process.
