Business Administration: Energy and Water Management

DEVELOPING SUSTAINABLE ENERGY AND WATER SUPPLY SYSTEMS

Starting in winter 2018/19!

Energy and water: no private household, municipality or company can do without them. But how can these two key resources be used in sustainable and eco-friendly ways? The part-time master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in energy and water management prepares students for the challenges of this sector. If you’re burning to meet the challenges of energy and water management and to help shape the future of energy and water supply systems, this programme is the right choice for you.

This part-time master’s degree in business administration with a focus on energy and water management offers a highly innovative concentration with excellent future job prospects. During the course, students explore issues of sustainability and risk management in energy and water management, learn how to plan projects involving renewable energy systems, and study water and wastewater management. The programme has been designed for working professionals, but you don’t have to be employed to enrol. Most of the coursework takes place online; face-to-face sessions (30 hours total) are held on Friday afternoons and Saturdays on Ruhr West’s Mülheim campus.

What makes this programme unique is its interdisciplinary setup: Aside from studying relevant issues in general business administration (e.g. HR management, strategic management, project and process management), students explore special topics in water and wastewater management or risk management in the energy sector. Moreover, they get the opportunity to participate in excursions to stakeholders in the energy and water industry. With their strong disciplinary and interdisciplinary background in energy and water management, graduates of this programme are qualified for both operative and strategic tasks, working as senior managers in fields such as asset management, regulation management and consulting. They are hired by energy companies, public utility companies, water and wastewater associations, plant manufacturers, consulting companies or other service providers associated with the energy and water sector.
