Business Administration: Industrial Services Management

OPTIMISING INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES AND BUILDINGS

Starting in Winter 2018/19!

Industrial services include a wide range of services. Following the value chain, this degree programme covers building technology, facility management, inspection and quality management – always at the nexus of technology and business.

This part-time master’s degree programme in business administration with a focus on industrial services management offers a highly innovative concentration with excellent future job prospects. The programme produces business managers with a broad technical background who can perform both business-related and technology-related tasks, especially in the industrial services sector. The programme has been designed for working professionals, but you don’t have to be employed to enrol. Most of the coursework takes place online; face-to-face sessions (30 hours total) are held on Friday afternoons and Saturdays on Ruhr West’s Mülheim campus.

What makes this programme unique is its interdisciplinary setup: Aside from studying relevant issues in general business administration (e.g. HR management, strategic management, research methodology and quantitative analysis, sustainability management), students explore special topics in industrial services management, such as technology and innovation management, technical project management, quality assurance or an introduction to Six Sigma and Kaizen (process of ongoing improvement). With their strong disciplinary and interdisciplinary background in industrial services management, graduates of this programme are qualified for both operative and strategic tasks, working as specialists at the nexus of technology and business, typically in controlling, R&D, technology and innovation management, production and quality management, or facility management and consulting. They may be hired in any sector by large corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises, industrial, service and consulting companies, as well as professional associations and the public sector.
