The master’s programme in Technical Operations Management at Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences is marked by an emphasis on mechanical engineering and manufacturing technology with respect to all phases of production. Documenting, controlling and planning non-industry-specific production processes requires not only solid knowledge and skills in engineering but also the ability to link technical issues with business-related concerns for production planning and project management. Moreover, globalisation has produced new challenges for individual stages of the manufacturing process, including a growing division of work (who manufactures what, when and where).
Concentrations in manufacturing technology and service/maintenance
Students in this interdisciplinary programme learn to think of a company as a system and to see it in a larger economic context. In the first semester, they choose one of two possible concentrations: manufacturing technology or service/maintenance. The curriculum consists of six required modules and three elective modules. To graduate, students need to submit a research paper and a master’s thesis.
